Tips for Ticket Sales and Registration

Ways to make these two days go easier...

Some of our biggest events for the year are approaching quickly. This coming Thursday, April 18th is our ticket sales day at the Columbia Theatre. Then, on May 3rd, returning students get to register for the summer and next fall. New families get to register beginning May 17th. I wanted to give six tips to help you navigate these days:
1. The best way to get tickets in my opinion is to wait until after 12 p.m. on Thursday and go to the box office. This ensures that the lines won’t be as long and you will still be able to get tickets without additional convenience fees that the theater charges. Please remember tickets are non-refundable. There is nothing I can do if Grandma changes her mind about not wanting to come or if you purchase tickets to the wrong show.
2. For dance recital tickets, do not delay in purchasing them. The Columbia Theatre seats approximately 830 people. We have 70 dancers in the recital. We are expecting the dance recital to sell out. At this point, I highly doubt there will be seats for purchase the day of at this recital. Again, there is nothing I can do if we sell out and you haven’t purchased your tickets. We’ve been announcing ticket sales day for over two months.
3. I often get asked where is the best place to sit. It really is a personal decision. I don’t like heights, so I always sit on the floor. The loge area is considered the preferred seating but it is more expensive. Also, the outside seats of Row A in the loge has a door near it that guests often walk through.
Remember that children 2 and under who are sitting in a lap do not need a ticket. Last, I find those with long legs usually do better near the aisle to stretch out some.
4. With the music recital, there is a lot of equipment on stage. With floor seats, it is impossible for us to promise a clear view from your seat to your student. Balcony seating works best to see the entire stage. Also, if you purchase our video, there is direct feed to our videographer ensuring quality sound.
5. Soar has come a long way from our first registration where 35 people came. Last year, I was surprised to see a line forming 30 minutes before we opened. If you have certain time spots that you need (especially for music), you may still want to line up early. For families that are involved in several classes, this is a good idea too. However, if your child is just in one dance or art class, please just leisurely come at your time spot. New families come in on May 17th. We don’t hold a spot for anyone. You are required to pay for the summer session when you register. If you are enrolling in fall, be prepared to pay the registration fee, August tuition, and any curriculum or material fee that comes with the class. If you miss registration day, simply see our front desk at regular business hours. They can get you registered.
6. We have merchandise on sale at registration. You can order car decals, extra registration shirts, leotards, dance bags, and music bags. These items do not come in to close to mid-September. We quit selling these items at the end of August for the rest of the year.
With all of these events, preparation is key. We treasure our families and do our absolute best to keep you informed, but it is up to you to follow our recommendations. We are looking forward to seeing how God will continue to use Soar in the future! Thank you for being a part of our journey!
