Learn of the upcoming changes coming to Soar!
As Soar is in its 8th year, we have definitely had to make changes along the way. We have added and expanded classes throughout the years. We now have a series of new changes coming along that we feel are best for Soar.
The most unexpected change is that we are stopping the music department at Soar. For the past three years, we have found it difficult to maintain music staff and our music numbers have been continually declining. For the spring, we only had around 20 music students sign up. It just became where it was not economically feasible to continue with music. We feel our time should be devoted to the programs that are continuing to grow. We will still be offering dance, tumbling, and art.
Dance and tumbling are our biggest department at Soar. We will be expanding this for the fall. We are planning for three Beginner classes as these always fill up. We also plan on making a recreational Teen class. This would be for ages 12 and up. It would be a combo ballet, tap, and jazz class. It is meant to be the next level up from our Intermediate class. Lastly, we have always made our Hip Hop Crew minimum age be 8 years old. We will be lowering this to age 5.
Our summer session will be different. In the past, we have done each class once per week for a total of five weeks. This summer, we will have more of a camp format. There will be a different theme on select weeks and the classes will go from Monday through Thursday afternoon. Ideas we have include Animal Drawing Week, Hip Hop Week, Tumbling Week, etc. The goal is that more students will be able to participate without interrupting other summer plans they may have.
We are currently still enrolling for spring art classes. These start on January 9th. We also have openings right now in Tumblling Tots. Information about next summer and fall will be released around February!
