The new year, 2024, is in full swing! But before we know it,
summer will be here and that means registration begins soon! To help out
everyone, especially new families, we’ll be talking about how Soar does
registration. Before we get started, here’s some basic information:
First, let’s talk about what we offer.
- We offer classes in dance and tumbling. Our dance
program runs the entire year from August through May, while tumbling is a
month-to-month commitment. Both dance and tumbling start at age 2. In dance, we
teach a variety of genres including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and musical
theater. We strive to teach excellence in technique while keeping songs, moves,
and costumes modest and age-appropriate. In tumbling, we teach the beginning of
acrobatic skills such as cartwheels, front rolls, and handstands. We encourage
our students to grow in each of these skills, and challenge them to continue to
build on the skills they already know.
- We also offer classes in art. Our art program goes by
semester. Fall semester runs from August through December, and the spring
semester runs from January through May. In the fall, art begins at age 6, but
for the summer we are offering art classes for 3-4 year olds that are more
crafts focused. We teach several drawing and painting techniques such as
shading, grid-work, pastels, watercolors, and more. We also teach students the
different techniques of famous artists and encourage them to expound on those
techniques with their own style.
Second, let’s talk about some changes to our summer session.
- Normally, we have done a 5-week long session with
classes happening once a week. However, we learned that due to summer
vacations, some families could not attend all classes. To prevent more
confusion and inconvenience, we have decided to have several week long camps
throughout the summer months. For instance, one of our first dance camps, a
jazz class called Let’s Go to the Movies, meets every day of the week of June
10th-13th.
- We are offering tons of different options such as
Ballet Princess/Ballet Clinic, Hip Hop Camps, Tumbling camps, and more. For
art, we have camps such as Painting Fun, Learn to Draw Animals, The Places We
Will Go (which focuses on landscapes), and Exploring Shape and Form in Drawing.
Again, each of these camps happens for only one week during the summer for all
age groups to help plan around vacations and life.
Third, let’s talk about how registration works.
- We do our registrations by 20-minute appointments.
This helps us focus on the family in front of us so there’s no need to rush.
- Returning families will receive an appointment request
form to turn in that lets us know what classes they are interested in for
summer, fall, or both. During Easter break, we will call each family that has
turned in their form to schedule the appointment. Returning family appointments
begin Monday, April 8th. Please note that the appointment will be
scheduled based on how many years the family has attended Soar.
- New families interested in signing up can either email
or call us to let us know they would like to make an appointment. Please email
our office manager Shannon at shannon@soarcreativearts.com
with the following information: Student’s name, Parent’s name, phone number of
the parent, classes you are interested in enrolling in, and if you are
interested in summer, fall, or both. We will start taking new student
registration appointments beginning March 5th. New family
appointments begin Monday, April 22nd.
Fourth, let’s talk about what you need to know for the
appointment.
- All summer and fall class information is on our
website! You can follow this link here to find pricing, days, times, and other
important information: www.soarcreativearts.com.
- At the appointment, you’ll choose all classes you want
your child to attend, fill out a registration form, and sign our policy form
(which we will also give you a copy of). If you are signing up for any fall
classes, you will receive a payment sheet that lays out what is due each month.
- Please be prepared to pay all that apply: Summer
tuition, registration fee, and/or fall art material fee. With all card
transactions there is a 4% card processing fee, but if you pay with cash or
check, there is no added fee.
To stay up to date on registration days and times, please ask
to be added to our email list. You can also go to our contact page on our
website to get brochures mailed to you. If you have any questions, please don’t
hesitate to call or email us. We are thrilled to be looking toward year 9 at
Soar!
